Claire Tansley (Benadé)
Registered Social Worker
Hi, I'm Claire! I'm so glad you are here.

After obtaining my Masters degree at the University of Calgary in 2020, I became a registered Social Worker in both Alberta & Nova Scotia and now provide services in person at our Airdrie office, but also virtually across AB and NS to allow access for those who may live in rural communities or simply find comfort in attending sessions from their home. My passion lies in walking alongside people during some of life's most tender, challenging, and transformative seasons. Whether you are navigating the ups and downs of parenthood, supporting a child or teenager through their big emotions, rediscovering who you are in a new chapter of life, or holding the weight of a heavy career either personally or through your spouse or parent, I am here to guide you. My goal is to provide a safe, down-to-earth space where you feel understood, supported, and never alone in the process.

Over the years I have had the privilege of working in both public and private practice settings and have gained experience in a number of different opportunities and walks of life including individuals, children, teens, criminal justice system, social services and foster care. Through my own experiences as a mom and first responder wifey, I have gained a passion for providing relatable support to those with perinatal mental health, parenting challenges, identity transitions through life, trauma, and the unique stressors that come with being a first responder family. I also bring experience from my time in research with SickKids Hospital in Toronto, which deepened my understanding of the complexities of mental health care and the needs that so many need.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative and tailored to you! I draw on a variety of evidence-based practices to support healing and growth including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviural Therapy (DBT), Solutions-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I also incorporate trauma-informed and attachment-based perspectives to ensure that the work we do together feels safe, respectful, and empowering.

What matters most to me is that therapy feels approachable and relatable (so be prepared to laugh & cry). I believe growth doesn't come from being told what to do, but from being supported in discovering your own strengths, insights and coping skills. My role is to listen deeply, offer strategies and perspectives that fit for you, and create a space where your story is honoured.

Outside of my work, you'll usually fin d me enjoying time with my family out in nature, getting in a workout, or curled up with a good psychological thriller (book nerd over here!). These personal joys help me stay grounded and remind me that balance, humour, and connection are just as important for therapists as they are for my clients.

If you're considering therapy, I know it can feel like a big step. Please know that you don't have to have everything "figured out" before reaching out. You deserve support in the messy, complicated , and in-between places too. Together, we can work towards clarity, healing, and new heights in your journey.
