Perimenopause and menopause are significant life transitions, yet so often, the emotional impact is overlooked or brushed aside as simply a part of aging. You may have been told it's just hormones, that it's normal to feel this way, or that it's something you just have to get through. But what happens when you no longer feel like yourself? When your anxiety feels unfamiliar, your patience is shorter, your mind feels foggier, and the things you once managed with ease now feel overwhelming? Perhaps you're questioning your confidence, your relationships, or even your sense of identity. You might find yourself wondering what happened to the person you used to be, all while trying to keep up with the demands of everyday life.
These changes deserve to be acknowledged, understood, and supported.
Therapy offers a space to make sense of these changes, reconnect with yourself, and navigate this next chapter with greater confidence and self-compassion. Together, we can explore the emotional impact of hormonal transitions, develop tools to manage anxiety and overwhelm, work through changes in identity and relationships, and help you reconnect with what matters most to you. You don't have to navigate this season of life alone. There is space for you to feel heard, understood, and supported as you find your way forward.

FAQ:
1. How do I know if what I'm experiencing is related to perimenopause or menopause?
Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can influence mood, sleep, anxiety, concentration, and emotional well-being. You may notice that you don't feel like yourself or that everyday stressors feel harder to manage. Therapy can help you explore these changes and develop strategies to support your mental health. A healthcare provider can also help assess whether your symptoms may be related to hormonal changes or other medical factors.

2. Do I need a diagnosis or to be officially in perimenopause to seek support?
Not at all. You don't need a formal diagnosis or to be at a particular stage of menopause to benefit from therapy. If you're noticing changes in your emotional well-being, identity, or ability to cope, you are welcome to seek support.

3. How can therapy help with hormonal changes?
Therapy cannot change your hormone levels, but it can help you navigate the emotional and psychological impact of hormonal transitions. Together, we can work on managing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, stress, and changes in identity, while developing practical coping strategies and strengthening your sense of self.
4. Can therapy help if I'm already taking medication or receiving hormone therapy?
Absolutely. Therapy can complement medical care, including hormone therapy and other treatments. We can focus on the emotional and psychological aspects of your experience while supporting you in navigating this stage of life. Medication and hormone treatment decisions should be discussed with your healthcare provider.

5. What if I don't feel like myself anymore?
Feeling disconnected from yourself can be unsettling, particularly when you're unsure why things feel different. Therapy offers a space to explore these changes, understand what you're experiencing, and reconnect with your values, needs, and sense of identity. You don't have to navigate this transition alone.

6. What can I expect from my first therapy session?
Your first session is an opportunity to share what has been happening, explore what has brought you to therapy, and identify what you hope to gain from support. There is no pressure to have everything figured out. Together, we will begin developing an understanding of your experiences and create a plan that reflects your needs and goals.
