Being a teenager can feel like a lot. You're navigating friendships, school, family expectations, changing relationships, and figuring out who you are, all while trying to make sense of emotions that can sometimes feel overwhelming. Maybe you find yourself worrying about what others think, feeling like you're never quite good enough, or struggling to keep up with everything expected of you. Perhaps you're feeling disconnected from your friends, frustrated with your family, or unsure how to explain what's going on inside. Sometimes, it can feel like everyone expects you to have things figured out when you're still trying to understand yourself.
Whatever you're experiencing, your feelings matter, and you deserve a space where you can talk about them without fear of being judged or misunderstood.

Therapy offers a supportive space to explore what's going on, make sense of your emotions, and develop tools to help you navigate life's challenges. Together, we can work on building confidence, managing stress, strengthening relationships, and helping you feel more comfortable in who you are. You don't have to have all the answers or know exactly where to start. Therapy is about helping you understand yourself, recognize your strengths, and feel more confident as you navigate the changes and challenges of growing up.

FAQ:
1. How do I know if therapy is right for my teen?
If your teen is struggling with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, self-esteem, friendships, or the pressures of everyday life, therapy may be helpful. You don't need to wait until things become severe. Therapy can also support teens who want to better understand themselves, build confidence, or develop healthier coping strategies.

2. What if my teen doesn't want to talk or isn't sure what to say?
It's completely normal for teens to feel uncertain about therapy, especially if they haven't talked openly about their feelings before. There is no pressure to share everything right away. Building trust and creating a comfortable environment are important parts of the process, and therapy can move at a pace that feels manageable for your teen.

3. Will parents be involved in their teen's therapy?
Parent involvement depends on your teen's needs, age, and therapeutic goals. While therapy provides teens with a space to explore their experiences, parents can also play an important role in supporting their well-being. We can discuss appropriate parent involvement while respecting your teen's privacy and confidentiality, including its limits.
4. What kinds of issues can teen therapy help with?
Therapy can support teens experiencing anxiety, stress, low self-esteem, emotional regulation difficulties, friendship challenges, identity concerns, academic pressure, and life transitions. It can also help teens develop coping skills, strengthen communication, and build confidence navigating everyday challenges.

5. How long does teen therapy typically last?
The length of therapy depends on your teen's needs, goals, and the challenges they're navigating. Some teens benefit from short-term support focused on specific concerns, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We regularly review progress and adjust the approach to ensure therapy continues to meet your teen's needs.

6. What can my teen expect from their first therapy session?
The first session is an opportunity for your teen to get to know their therapist, share what has brought them to therapy, and begin identifying what they hope to gain from support. There is no pressure to have everything figured out. The focus is on building a connection, understanding their experiences, and creating a plan that feels comfortable and appropriate for them.
